Solomon Avbioroko started his working career in broadcasting (1970-1974). He also worked with the Industrial Training Fund, the apex manpower development organization in the country for about 15 years (1979 – 1994),NYSC inclusive before he left to join Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, the Region Office of The Coca-Cola Company here in Nigeria (1994-1999) as the Training & Manpower Development Manager. Solomon was later seconded to the Nigerian Bottling Company to support the HR function by mid February 1999.

Here he held the position of Head of Management Training, a portfolio he held until August, 2001 when he resigned his appointment to join the Lagos Business School as the Marketing Manager. In January 2005, he was promoted to the position of Marketing Director., and later upgraded to the position of Director Executive Education in January 2006. In June 2010 he was made the Director of Special Programs, a position he held till his retirement in February, 2012.

He remains a member of the LBS Faculty and facilitates sessions in the Senior Management Program, Advanced Management Program, Owner Management Program and the Chief Executive Program in addition to his own designed program viz: Category Management, Talent Management & Succession Planning, Pre-Retirement Seminar; Building Strategic Learning Organisations and other Organisational Behaviour related seminars. Served as a member, of the Advisory Committee of the Office of Head of Service of the Federation. Solomon also served on the Technical Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Youth Development. He is currently the MD/ C.E.O of Smeep Consultancy Services Limited with well-equipped training facilities available for rental when not occupied. He is an accredited Crestcom Bullet Proof Manager franchisee. He holds membership of the following bodies: Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Nigerian Institute for Training & Development (NITAD), Centre for Management Development (CMD) and European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

Working with Tufts Management School he facilitates in management and business courses for management executives in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt Nigeria.

With over 34 years working experience in manpower development, he has made impact on the lives of thousands of employees in various organizations from supervisory to executive level and greatly added value to the operations of many corporate organizations in Nigeria and abroad through his various training and manpower development interventions/initiatives.

Highlights of Achievements

  • Design, development and implementation of Performance Management System in NBC. Trained a total of 492 managers, all Directors and Chief Executive Officer inclusive.
  • Decentralization of the training function in NBC to facilitate people capability building bearing in mind the headcount of about 9500.
  • Train the Trainer Workshops for hundreds of Training Managers across the country.
  • Job evaluation projects for various corporate organizations.
  • Installation of Productivity Management Scheme-Peugeot Automobile Nigeria(PAN) and many other companies in the manufacturing sector.
  • Design and implementation of Market Impact Team (MIT) programmes for Coca-Cola operations in Nigeria and Ghana.
  • Design and implementation of Sales, Marketing and Management Development Programmes for various companies nationwide.

Over the years, he has rendered training/consultancy services to many organisations some of which include Chevron , UACN Plc, CFAO Nig. Plc; General Motors; UAC Foods; Inter-Continental Distillers; Nigeria Distilleries Limited, Warri Refinery & Petrochemical Company, Nigeria Security Printing & Minting Company, Unitrust Insurance, Linkage Assurance, Lafarge; National Identity Management Commission(NIMC) etc.. to mention just a few. His prowess in consultancy and manpower development is drawn from his very broad training and development exposure over the years having worked with ILO expatriates, the Coca-Cola Learning Consortium and many other training and manpower development bodies in Nigeria.
